"RETARDED" GRANDPARENTS

Written by a third grader, on what his grandparents do.  After Christmas, a teacher asked her young pupils how they spent their holiday away from school. One child wrote the following:

We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa. They used to live in a big brick house, but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to Arizona. Now they live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look like grass.

They ride around on their bicycles, and wear name tags, because they don't know who they are anymore. They go to a building called a wreck center, but they must have got it fixed because it is all okay now, they do exercises there, but they don't do them very well. There is a swimming pool too, but they all jump up and down in it with hats on.

At their gate, there is a doll house with a little old man sitting in it. He watches all day so nobody can escape. Sometimes they sneak out, and go cruising in their golf carts.

Nobody there cooks, they just eat out. And, they eat the same thing every night - early birds. Some of the people can't get out past the man in the doll house. The ones who do get out, bring food back to the wrecked center for pot luck.

My Grandma says that Grandpa worked all his life to earn his retardment and, says I should work hard so I can be retarded someday too.

When I earn my retardment, I want to be the man in the doll house. Then I will let people out, so they can visit their grandchildren.

PRICELESS

We will be driving to our daughter's home in Missouri tomorrow (20th) in anticipation of the arrival of our 16th grandchild on Friday 21st!  We are SO excited and anxious (in a good way) to meet this little one...no we don't know if it is a boy or girl yet!

January Ramblings...

Haven't posted in a while so thought I should get back to it! It has been COLD here and I have been in hybernation!  I just do not like cold weather and the older I get that dislike increases!  I find every and any excuse to NOT go out in it!

It has been a slow January for me which is good...I am SO enjoying retirement...gets better everyday too!  We have 3 family birthdays in January...see the pics on the left side bar and we will add another one to that list soon!

I have also been bitten my the "Quilting Bug"!  I have kept that "bug" at bay for many years - just dabbling with it now and then - until now!  I have just pieced a full size quilt for our granddaughter, Katelin.  That was really so fun!  Now the part that takes longer...hand quilting it.   My goal is to finish it by her 16th birthday which is in April!  YIKES, hope I can do it!

I have already started on piecing granddaughter Erin's quilt for her 1st birthday that's in November!  I have the material to make our grandson, Parker, a large size quilt but will wait until I finish these two.  My goal is to make a large quilt for each one of our grandchildren...that would be 16 quilts in all so far!

To help me in this endeavor, Warren bought me an early birthday present: Grace EZ3 Fabri-Fast Hand Quilting Frame.  It should arrive here by this Friday!  I am SO EXCITED and can't wait to get started hand-quilting!

We are on grandchild baby watch - baby can come anytime now - we are ready - and can't wait to meet our 16th grandchild!

So you see my slow January is getting ready to accelerate into a faster speed and if you do not see a new post on my blog until after February you will understand!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints!
There is no want to those who fear Him.
The young lions lack and suffer hunger;
But those who seek the Lord
shall not lack any good thing.
Psalm 34:8-10

As you draw near to God may you experience His presense in your life on a daily basis!
Don't take yourself too seriously, take God seriously!

"What does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8

Proverb Punch: When things get tough, always remember...faith doesn't get you around trouble, it gets you through it!
