The Stump
He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into manhood on his own. The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear all kinds of noises. Wild beasts must surely be all around him. Maybe even some human might do him harm. The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but he sat there, never removing the blindfold. It would be the only way he could become a man...
Finally, after a horrific night, the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold. It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him. He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm.
We, too, are never alone. Even when we don't know it, our Heavenly Father is watching over us, sitting on the stump beside us. When trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to Him. If you liked this story, pass it on. If not, you took off your blindfold before dawn.
Moral of the story? Just because you can't see God, doesn't mean
He is not there. 'For we walk by faith, not by sight.' (2 Corinthians 5:7)

The "Set of Your Sail"
What's your attitude toward obeying God - walking in the light?
The storms of life will somethimes tempt us to not trust the Lord.
It all has to do with the "set of our sail" - our attitude.
It's been said that the smallest of boats is safe in the roughest of seas just as long as none of that rough sea gets inside that small boat. Having a godly attitude does not mean you will never face problems or storms.
One ship sails east
Another ship sails west
No matter which way the wind blows
Tis the set of the sail and not the gale
That determines the way that ship goes.
we journey through life,
it will be the "set of our hearts"
that determine where we will go
not the storms or strife.
The whole point here is:
Your attitude is the "set of your sail"!

Time To Till...
Time to till the "soil" of our hearts
Till out:
...all that keeps you from growing in Christ Jesus...
...strong holds that bind you up...
...weeds that choke out the good seeds...
...attitudes that cause you to stumble and fall
Till in:
...the Word of God which will cause tremendous growth in your life: spiritual, emtional, physical, & mental...
...these attitudes: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, sel-control
Getting the soil ready for planting the garden - the tilling, picking out rocks and creating the bed to welcome the seed. Not easy work. Not fun work. Yet, once the seed was placed, joy came quickly with each sprout and eventual harvest.
“Then he told them many things in parables, saying: ‘A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. He who has ears, let him hear.’” (Matthew 13:3-9)

Bring the Rain...
“Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.
From the ends of the earth I call to you,
I call as my heart grows faint;
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.
I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.
For you have heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.” Psalm 61

Psalms 59...
How about you? Do you in some way "shout" for joy each morning because of God?

First RV Club Camp-out for the 2009 Season
Only a 35 minute drive from our home in Skiatook.
This is the first time we took out our new Surveyor Travel Trailer.
So we were able to see if everything is in working order...and, of course, we found out there are a few things we are going to have to contact the place where we bought it about to have them replaced:) Ahhhh, such is life in these days:)
We had a wonderful time fellowshipping with our club members. They are the dearest and sweetest people.
We also ventured out and came across a place (Keepsake Candles) that makes candles from using antique glassware as their mold. They are exquisite!
Mom, notice I'm carrying the purse you gave me...I just luv it!
The weather for this weekend turned out to be just beautiful.

An Urgent Message...
A respected pastor, best-selling author and founder of a major ministry to teens predicts an imminent "an earth-shattering calamity" centered in New York City that will spread to major urban areas across the country and around the world – part of what he sees as a judgment from God.
Do with this message as you choose.

Did You Know...
1. How many steps does the guard take during his walk across the tomb of the Unknowns and why? 21 steps. It alludes to the twenty-one gun salute, which is the highest honor given any military or foreign dignitary.
2. How long does he hesitate after his about face to begin his return walk and why? 21 seconds for the same reason as answer number 1
3. Why are his gloves wet? His gloves are moistened to prevent his losing his grip on the rifle.
4. Does he carry his rifle on the same shoulder all the time and if not, why not? He carries the rifle on the shoulder away from the tomb. After his march across the path, he executes an about face and moves the rifle to the outside shoulder.
5. How often are the guards changed? Guards are changed every thirty minutes, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
6. What are the physical traits of the guard limited to? For a person to apply for guard duty at the tomb, he must be between 5' 10' and 6' 2' tall and his waist size cannot exceed 30.'
Other requirements of the Guard: They must commit 2 years of life to guard the tomb, live in a barracks under the tomb, and cannot drink any alcohol on or off duty for the rest of their lives. They cannot swear in public for the rest of their lives and cannot disgrace the uniform {fighting} or the tomb in any way. After two years, the guard is given a wreath pin that is worn on their lapel signifying they served as guard of the tomb. There are only 400 presently worn. The guard must obey these rules for the rest of their lives or give up the wreath pin. The shoes are specially made with very thick soles to keep the heat and cold from their feet. There are metal heel plates that extend to the top of the shoe in order to make the loud click as they come to a halt. There are no wrinkles, folds or lint on the uniform. Guards dress for duty in front of a full-length mirror. The first six months of duty a guard cannot talk to anyone, nor watch TV. All off duty time is spent studying the 175 notable people laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery .. A guard must memorize who they are and where they are interred. Every guard spends five hours a day getting his uniforms ready for guard duty.
Among the notables are: President Taft, Joe E. Lewis {the boxer} and Medal of Honor winner Audie Murphy, {the most decorated soldier of WWII} of Hollywood fame.
In 2003 as Hurricane Isabelle was approaching Washington , DC , our US Senate/House took 2 days off with anticipation of the storm. On the ABC evening news, it was reported that because of the dangers from the hurricane, the military members assigned the duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were given permission to suspend the assignment. They respectfully declined the offer, 'No way, Sir!' Soaked to the skin, marching in the pelting rain of a tropical storm, they said that guarding the Tomb was not just an assignment, it was the highest honor that can be afforded to a serviceperson. The tomb has been patrolled continuously, 24/7, since 1930.
ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.
"What does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8
Proverb Punch: When things get tough, always remember...faith doesn't get you around trouble, it gets you through it!
